Safety notions

Please use the crosswalks when you cross the roads. Using those won't make the walking distances significantly longer when the holes themselves are 2664m long alone. :)

The course is located in a public park. Make sure that it's safe to play before you throw and guide the other park users politely when necessary.

There's a wasps nest behind the hole 6 tee. We'll deal with it but you should still avoid going too close to it.

General ground rules of The Beast

The painted line is the OB line where it is available. The OB poles are there to help you see where the OB line goes from a distance. If the painted line has faded out the poles designate the OB line.

A quick reminder and clarification: The out-of-bounds line is part of the out-of-bounds area.

The permanent course elements are part of the course and grant no special relief. E.g. the teepad in the hole 3 sweetspot. Even if your lie is on top of it, on the edge or right next to it, play it as it is.

Hole specific notions & rules

Hole 8: CTP competition. Instructions can be found from the hole 8 tee and from the bag on top of the basket.

Hole 9: The MultiGolfHole and it's lip (green metal part) are a relief area. Here's the relief area rule from the PDGA rulebook (806.04):

A relief area is an area designated by the Director from which a disc may not be played, or any in-bounds area that players are prohibited by law from entering. A relief area is played as an out-of-bounds area with the exception that no penalty throw is assessed to a player whose disc comes to rest in a relief area.

This is purely out of convenience. This way you don't have to duck below the hole twice in order to mark your lie if it's in the bottom of the hole. Just place your marker on the artificial grass next to the metal lip where your disc entered the relief area and drop your last throw in from there.

Hole 16: The OB line on the left is marked on the other side of the gravel walkway. Play this line as it is marked on the ground, not on the ground.

Also, this is an island hole with Buncr Hazard rule. Shots that come to rest in buncr hazard (BH) must be rethrown from the previous lie. Throws that land in the buncr hazard count towards the player’s score but no penalty throw is assigned due to these shots. Re-throws must be made prior to subsequent play by others in the group. (This applies to all throws on this hole, including putts.)

Käytä suojateitä kun ylität katuja. Tämä ei lisää kävelymatkaa kovin montaa askelta, kun ottaa huomioon että pelkästään väylistä kertyy jo 2664m matkaa. :)

Rataa sijaitsee pitkälti yleisessä puistossa. Ota muut puiston käyttäjät huomioon ja älä heitä kiekkoa, jos se ei ole turvallista. Ole ystävällinen, jos joudut pyytämään muita liikkujia siirtymään.

6. väylän tiin takana on maa-ampiaispesä. Ole varovainen sen läheisyydessä ja vältä menemästä liian lähelle sitä.

Yleisiä rataan liittyviä asioita

Maalattu viiva määrittelee OB-alueen rajan. Kepit auttavat havaitsemaan OB-linjan pidemmän matkan päästä. Poikkeus on kohta, missä maalattu viiva on kulunut niin pahasti, ettei sitä enää näy. Tällöin OB-alueen raja menee keppien mukaan. OB-linja (viiva) itsessään on pelialueen ulkopuolista aluetta.

Kiinteän radan kalusto on osa rataa eikä niistä saa erillistä vapautusta. Esim. 3. kisaväylän puolivälissä oleva kiinteän radan tiimatto on pelissä ja sen päällä, reunalla tai vieressä olevalta heittopaikalta (lie) pelataan ihan normaalisti.

Väyläkohtaisia asioita

Väylä 8: CTP-kilpailu. Ohjeet väylän tiillä, sekä korin päällä.

Väylä 9: MultiGolf-reikä korin alla, sekä sen metallinen reunus ovat vapautusaluetta (Relief area). Vapautusalueen sääntö (806.04):

”Vapautusalue on mikä tahansa kilpailunjohtajan erikseen ennen kierrosta määrittämä alue, josta ei saa pelata, tai mikä tahansa pelialueella (IB) oleva alue, jonne ei saa lain mukaan mennä. Vapautusalue pelataan kuten OB-alue, mutta pelaajan tulokseen ei lisätä rangaistusheittoa.” 

Tämä sääntö on käytössä tällä väylällä puhtaasti käytännöllisyyden takia. Tämän ansiosta reiän pohjalla olevaa kiekkoa ei tarvitse kumartua merkkaamaan erikseen, eikä tarvitse hakeutua omituiseen heittoasentoon vain pudottaakseen kiekkoa koriin.

Väylä 16: Väylän halki kulkevan hiekkatien reunalla kulkeva OB-linja on piirretty kartassa ja väyläopasteessa eri puolelle hiekkatietä kuin missä maahan vedetty OB-viiva kulkee maastossa. OB-linja menee maahan piirretyn viivan mukaan. (Väylän vasen reuna.)

Tällä väylällä ei myöskään päde normaali OB-sääntö, vaan tämä väylä pelataan ns. ”Buncr Hazard”-säännön mukaan. Pelialueen ulkopuoliselle alueelle päätyneestä heitosta ei saa rangaistusta, mutta pelaajan on aina jatkettava edeltävältä heittopaikalta. Huom. Heittovuoro ei tällöin vaihdu heiton jälkeen.
