The game format

We play one round of "Modified Best Throw" and one round of "Modified Alternate Throw" according to the rules of the last PDGA World Championships, which is much more strategic. It is NOT a normal "BEST Shot / Alternate Shot" tournament, but there are some adjustments that make team performance and strategy much more important.

Modified Best Throw

The format for the first round is Modified Best Throw.
Both partners may throw from the tee, but the same partner's tee throw may not be used more than twice in succession. If a partner's first throw has been used for two consecutive holes, that partner may not take a tee throw on the next hole and the other partner's tee throw MUST be used.
After the tee-throw, play continues in the regular best-throw format, where the team determines from which partner's position to throw.
There is an area on the scorecard where you can easily track which partner's tee shot was used on each hole.
If the tee shot of the same partner is used on a third consecutive hole, this is considered an incorrect play and is subject to a two-throw penalty.

Example:

Team: Alice and Bob
Lane 1: Both throw from the tee and the team decides to play Alice's position
Lane 2: Both throw from the tee and the team chooses Alice's position
Lane 3: As Alice's tee shot has already been taken twice in succession, Alice must sit out the tee shot and only Bob may throw from the tee.
Lane 4: Both Alice and Bob may throw from the tee again and the team decides in favor of Bob's position.
Lane 5: As Bob's tee shot has now been taken twice in succession, Bob must sit out the tee shot and only Alice may throw from the tee.

Modified Alternate Throw

The format for the second round is Modified Alternate Throw, where the team members take it in turns to throw the tee shot. So Alice makes all the tee throws on the odd holes (1,3,5,...,21,23) and Bob makes all the tee throws on the even holes (2,4,6,...,22,24).
After the tee-off, the partners take turns with the throw, as in the normal alternate throw.
Which partner throws on which hole is noted on the scorecard by the team before the start of the round.
If the throw of the wrong partner is used on a hole, this is deemed to be an incorrect play and is penalized with two penalty throws.
