Spring league final round tomorrow

12/11/21

Hi all,

Thanks for registering for tomorrow’s league day.

This email is replacing the pre-round players meeting we previously had, so now when you arrive at the course you'll just need to come and check in at the table near the first tee to let us know you've arrived – by 8am or 10:30 at the latest depending on your tee time. If you haven't had your name ticked off by then we'll rearrange cards if needed to make sure we don't end up with cards of only 1 or 2 players, so make sure you arrive on time or let us know you are coming.

If you haven’t already done so, please complete your registration by paying on the event page – just click on edit registration and then use the paypal payment option. If you are no longer able to make a league day please unregister yourself when able, and if it is on the morning of the event please let us know so we can re-arrange cards if needed – going to the event page and using the ‘send email to admins’ button is the easiest way.

Tee-off times will be 8:15am and 10:45am.

Groups are available at: https://discgolfmetrix.com/?u=scorecard_groups&ID=1788578  - Groups 1 and 11 have the honour of being our lead cards, though it’s not too late to change your groups by editing your registration if you prefer.

Groups 1 to 9 are playing at 8am and groups 10 to 18 at 10:30am. Groups 1 to 9 will be starting on holes 1 to 9. The later tee time will have group 11 on hole 1, group 12 on hole 2 etc., with group 10 on hole 9.

If you are a new player or have any questions we’ll be happy to answer them when you check in. Please also make sure you scan the Covid QR code as well. For those playing in the later timeslot please be mindful and courteous of any groups still playing from the early time slot when you arrive.

Exchange Skins match

The moment we have all been waiting for. After presentations tomorrow we will conclude the Spring League with the Exchange Specialty Coffee skins match. Exchange will be raising the stakes with big cash for our top players from the Spring league leaderboard (a mix of the top 5 men and women, with at least one of each gender) to fight it out. Spectators will also have a chance to grab some prizes, so make sure you get a front row seat.

You can check the leaderboard here: https://discgolfmetrix.com/1765326

Prizes

A big thanks to our sponsors for supporting the league and providing our prizes, make sure you check them out: Rock Solid Adventure, RPM Discs, Exchange Specialty Coffee, Parklands Disc Golf Shop, The Stag Public House, Woodhouse Activity Centre, Ausdiscs, and Adelaide Ashtanga Yoga Shala.

As well as our standard prizes below, we will be also awarding prizes for our end of season winners thanks to Exchange Specialty Coffee and our most improved player and most improved newcomer thanks to Parklands Disc Golf Shop. For a level playing field, our formula for judging improvement takes into account that it is harder to take more strokes off your round at the higher round ratings.

Prizes will be on offer tomorrow for:

CTP holes for tomorrow will be Hole 16 for men and Hole 1 for women and juniors. The white marker on these holes indicates the best drive on the hole for the day; if your initial tee shot lands closer to the basket than this marker move it to mark the lie of your disc from the side closest to the basket and write your name on the piece of paper. CTP is only for that hole, not the front/back 9 variation.

  • New player prizes – Randomly drawn from all players that don’t yet have a Metrix rating and are therefore not able to compete for the handicap score prizes: a $15 Parklands Disc Golf voucher, and seeing we have a whopping 9 players competing tomorrow without a Metrix rating there will be a second draw for a base plastic RPM Disc.
  • Bonus prize – Seeing RPM Discs are awesome and gave us a bunch of discs there will be another base plastic RPM Disc awarded to a randomly drawn player.

There are also two prizes you could win just by coming to The Stag for a drink, food and presentations after the second round (approx. 12:30-1pm).

  • Presentations door prize – a double pass kayaking in the Adelaide’s Dolphin Sanctuary with Rock Solid Adventure, and 5% off your next order with Parklands Disc Golf.
  • Bag tag draw – you must be at presentations and hold the bag tag matching the randomly drawn number to win a month’s access to online and in-studio yoga and fitness classes with Adelaide Ashtanga Yoga Shala. If you aren’t yet a club member and would like to become one and join the bag tag challenge let us know when you check in.

When you shop with Ausdiscs make sure to select SA Disc Golf for the club rewards program on checkout! We’d also like to thank Adina Hotels, where club members get a 15% discount on bookings.

Scoring

As always, one person per card will need to score using Metrix and one person keep a back up score using Udisc or whatever you prefer. Please make sure you select the correct group in Metrix, and make sure you change the starting hole to the correct hole – particularly for the second tee time as Metrix will think you are starting on the same hole as your group number. If you find the scores on Metrix are incorrect at the end of your round just let me know.

Course notes

To avoid doubt the following areas on the course are deemed out of bounds. If any part of the disc is touching in bounds it is deemed to be in bounds. Benefit of the doubt is given to the player.

  • All creek beds, identified by the rocky parts of the creek. The creek banks are in bounds.
  • Other than holes 4 and 13, landing and coming to rest across the other side of any creek
  • All concrete paths, including the concrete path on the bridge between hole 1 and 9. This does not include dirt paths.
  • Other than hole 16, landing and coming to rest across the other side of any concrete path. This does not include dirt paths.
  • The gravel pit on hole 2 / 11.
  • The garden bed / non-grassy area beneath the group of trees and shrubs to the left of the hole 5 / 14 fairway.
  • The dirt path running along the left side of hole 6 / 15.

Tie breaks

Although we all love a playoff to decide a winner it’s no longer feasible with two tee times. In the event of a tie that would determine the awarding of a league day prize we will be using a count back system, followed by the player with the most birdies or better, then the least ob’s – get in touch if you want to know the details.

Cheers,

The SADG team
