SFL MASTERS TOUR 2025  03/06/25-09/07/25

MASTERS TOUR IN ENGLISH

Masters Tour brings together Finland's best Masters Disc Golfers in 2025

The Masters Tour has been the premier circuit for senior players in Finland since 2022. Although the series features PRO divisions, all amateurs are also welcome to compete. Unlike previous years, every participant will receive a player package. The value of the first player package exceeds the entry fee*.
*Participants will receive a comprehensive player package at their first tournament. Starting from the second tournament, they will receive additions to the initial package.

All players of Masters age—born in 1985 or earlier—are eligible to participate. Stay tuned to the Finnish Disc Golf Association’s announcements and DiscGolfMetrix during the winter for detailed event information.

The tour determines the top disc golfers in the following divisions: MP40 (Mixed Pro 40+), FP40 (Women’s Pro 40+), MP50, FP50, MP60, FP60, MP65, FP65, MP70, and FP70. Apart from the Meilahti event (PDGA C-tier), all competitions are PDGA B-tier.

In Pool A, MP40 & MP50 will compete, while the other divisions will play in Pool B. Both pools will have their own rating pools.

Generally, Pool A will play two rounds on Saturday and one round on Sunday. Pool B will play one round on Saturday and two rounds on Sunday.

Registration for each competition opens on Metrix three months prior to the event.

The Masters Tour consists of 17 events plus a final, with the top four event results counting toward the overall standings. Points from the final will be multiplied by 1.5.

Most events cost €60 + €3 association fee + €1 Biletin service fee. Detailed event fees can be found in each competition’s information section. Participation fees can be paid on the Biletti.fi platform using online banking, credit cards, MobilePay, Epassi, Edenred, and Smartum. PayPal is also accepted.

For those with expiring activity vouchers at the end of the year, a general competition fee of €63 will be available for purchase on Biletti.fi. This can be used for any competition during the season. You can purchase as many entry fees in advance as you like.

Prizes:

  • The payout for each competition is 50%.

  • Cash prizes can be exchanged for gift cards.

  • The top 25% in each division will be awarded.

  • The winner of each division will receive a commemorative trophy.

From each player's entry fee (€60), the distribution in each competition is as follows:

  • €30 goes to the prize pool for that specific competition.

  • €5 goes to the Tour's overall prize pool.

  • €2 goes to the Finals prize pool.

Additionally, our partners will contribute to the Tour's overall prize pool. The amount will be announced before the season begins, but it may increase during the season.

In the overall Tour standings, 15-20% of the top players in each division will be awarded, with exact details to be confirmed before the season begins. The SFL Masters Tour will also award commemorative trophies to the top three in the overall points standings for each division.

Additionally, our sponsors contribute to the overall Tour prize pool. The exact amount will be announced before the season starts but may increase during the season.

For the overall Tour standings, 15–20% of players in each division will receive prizes. This percentage will be confirmed before the season begins.
Our partner Huawei will also reward top performers on the Tour as follows: The top 3 players in the MP40 & MP50 divisions and the winners of other divisions will receive a valuable Huawei smartwatch as a prize.

Points for the Final Will Be Multiplied by 1.5

If you are at least 50 years old, you can earn points in all the divisions you are eligible to compete in based on your age. However, in the final, you can only participate in one division.

For example, you could collect your four best results in the MP40 division and another four best results in the MP50 division, if you wish.

But that's not all!

(The following points 1-4 will kick off at the Meilahti tournament on April 12th.)

1. OUTSCORE SUPERPRO AND RIKU NIEMINEN BY POWERGRIP

Every event in the tour comes with an exciting twist: before each competition weekend, a "SuperPro player" and Riku Nieminen will play the PRO layout for the event. These rounds will be recorded and published on the newly launched DiscGolfTuber YouTube channel:

www.youtube.com/thediscgolftuber

Players joining Riku include top Finnish disc golfers such as Niklas Anttila, Eveliina Salonen, Väinö Mäkelä, Silva Saarinen, Joona Heinänen, Seppo Paju, Jesse Nieminen, Teemu Talikainen, Tuomas Hyytiäinen, Miro Ryhänen, Kristian Kuoksa, Rasmus Saukkoriipi, and Elias Luukkonen.

Through these videos, competitors can familiarize themselves with the course layouts in advance and challenge themselves to “beat” Riku's or even the SuperPro player's score during the competition weekend.

All participants who beat either the SuperPro player’s or Riku's score will be entered into a prize draw after each event:

Those who beat the SuperPro player compete for a €99 Powergrip gift card.

Those who beat Riku compete for a €50 Powergrip gift card.

2. RIKU’S CARDBOARD HEAD BY MÖRRI

A €60 Mörrin gift card will also be up for grabs in every event. A cardboard cutout of Riku Nieminen’s head will be hidden somewhere on the course. If your disc is (un)lucky enough to find it first, take the cutout to the Tournament Director after your round to claim the gift card.

If the cardboard head remains undiscovered by the end of the final round, the gift card will be raffled among all participants.

3. PUTTING LEAGUE BY TOP DISC

The tour’s putting champions will face off in the Putting League by Top Disc, held alongside each event. The winner of each putting contest will receive a €50 Top Disc gift card or an APY-KEPPI.

Tour points are also collected in the Putting League, with the final showdown taking place at Kippasuo, where even bigger prizes will be up for grabs. More details about the Putting League will be shared as the season approaches.

4. PLAYER PACKAGES

We’ve assembled fantastic player packages for every participant, which will be revealed closer to the Meilahti competition. Participants will receive a comprehensive player package at their first tournament. Starting from the second tournament, they will receive additions to the initial package.

We’ll keep you updated about these special contests in the news section for each event.

Throughout the season, there will also be many other raffles and giveaways!

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The SFL Masters Tour is expanding and evolving for 2025 with new organizers. Actor Riku Nieminen, event organizer Marko Kantola, and the Puskasoturit ry association will host the 2025 SFL Masters Tour in collaboration with the Finnish Disc Golf Association and local disc golf clubs.

Expect ghost rounds by PRO players, player packages, fitness training, putting contests, triple the number of events, and lower entry fees. The Masters Tour is designed for players aged 40 and older and includes divisions MP40 (Mixed Pro 40+), FP40 (Women’s Pro 40+), MP50, FP50, MP60, FP60, MP65, FP65, MP70, and FP70.

The tour will kick off spectacularly on March 6–8 in Mijas, Spain, and continue from April onwards across 17 locations in Finland, culminating in a final weekend in September at the world-renowned Kippasuo course in Heinola.

With the expanded tour, more players will have the opportunity to participate. Next year, entry fees will be lower, and there will be more events closer to players. Every competitor will receive a player package with their entry fee.

“As I rapidly approach masters age, it’s only fitting to start familiarizing myself with the tournament and the community I plan to compete with in 2026,” jokes 38-year-old Nieminen.

“I experienced the 2024 Masters Tour from a competitor’s perspective and noticed areas where it could be improved. My enthusiasm for the sport and experience in event organization make disc golf competitions a natural step forward for me. Our goal as organizers is to make each event a unique experience for the players, thereby fostering a strong sense of community among masters players,” says Marko Kantola, who has organized over 1,300 events since 1995 and became a disc golf enthusiast five years ago.

One of Finland’s largest disc golf associations, Puskasoturit ry, is actively involved in developing and growing the Masters Tour. Their aim is to raise the sport’s profile and make competitions more enjoyable and player-friendly.

“I’ve been the chairman of Puskasoturit ry for several years. Our primary goal is to promote disc golf. I bring my long-standing expertise to the table, and the association’s support is crucial for a project of this magnitude. Together, I believe we can create something truly exceptional for disc golf enthusiasts,” says 23-year-old Sakari Marttonen.

Laura Heikkilä, Chairperson of the Finnish Disc Golf Association:

“The concept of the Masters Tour has evolved from the beginning, and the development has always been in a positive direction. Next year’s tour, led by Riku and Marko, addresses player feedback with lower entry fees and less travel. New elements, like challenge competitions and the opening event in Spain, are also being introduced. Hopefully, as many masters-age players as possible will join the tour next year.”

As a cherry on top, Tomi Viitanen, Fitness Coach PRO, will ensure Masters players stay in peak condition with expert advice and training to help them excel in this and future tournaments.
